A camel area rug can highlight your room’s decor by fitting into the room’s color palette, furthering the style, and setting the room’s tone. Your rug should have similar elements to the decor through those areas so that each piece of decoration and furniture work towards the same goal.
WIth so many options out there, why should you go with a camel area rug? First, you need to consider what a camel rug is. The term can be interpreted in two different ways: the rug’s color palette or material. You may be looking for a rug that features browns and tans associated with camels or a camel haired rug. If it’s the former, you can find those colors in a variety of fabrics and heights like wool, cotton, shag, and others. If it’s the latter, then you still have plenty of designs to look through to match your style. Camel area rugs are versatile and diverse, so there’s definitely one out there that’s perfect for you.
As you shop for your perfect rug, it’s vital to think through some key areas.
Position: The first step in choosing a rug is to look at your room’s layout and decide on where to put a rug within that space. Since each room is unique, there are no hard-set rules, but there are general guidelines that can get you started.

Kitchen: Small camel rugs are ideal in front of kitchen sinks, stoves, or other areas where you tend to stand still. If you have narrow walkways you want to establish, you can use a camel runner rug in those spaces instead of the small rugs.

Outdoors: There’s no need to limit your style to inside the four walls of your home; use a camel outdoor area rug to set up your deck, patio, or porch as the place to be. For layout inspiration, look at similar indoor spaces.
Shape/Size: Once the layout’s set, finalize the size and shape of your rug. Both of these aspects depend on how you’ll layer the rug with the furniture and the overall size of the space. Being intentional with the size and shape will help you create visual balance in the room and ensure everything is to scale.
Pattern: Within camel area rugs, you have a ton of options with patterns. From oriental and persian patterns all the way to modern and abstract designs, you have your pick on the far ends of this spectrum and anywhere in between. The pattern you ultimately choose should have similar imagery, shapes, and tone to your other decor so that the room feels cohesive.
Color: As stated earlier, when you think of camel area rugs, you may be thinking of brown and tan camel colors. Outside of those options, consider colors that pair well with tan and often show up in camel area rugs like blue, black, grey, red, and others.
