Tilework and Ceramics - Tilework is a big part of southwestern design, and they can be used in unique ways specific to Southwestern style. For example, you may see tilework around door arches, on certain parts of the wall (outside of the kitchen too), or simply as coasters. Ceramics outside of tiles often include vases and pottery, and they also are great as Southwestern home decor because they highlight the use of natural materials and can be painted with fun patterns and designs to add flair. 

Patterns- Patterns used in Southwestern decor are often geometric in shape, which can also serve as a way to add in Modern Southwestern design, since that style loves geometric shapes as well. The colors are once again bold and stunning, and you can mix multiple patterns in a room to make it feel especially vibrant and add in boho flair. 

Wall Art and Accessories- Wall art and accessories used as Southwestern home decor often feature items reminiscent of the desert, such as cacti, suns, and desert landscapes. Antlers are yet another common feature, and so are pictures of animals seen in the south west. Natural materials also work well as artwork and accessories, and they can be used as tapestries on the walls or woven baskets for plants or blankets. 

Rugs- Rugs can fit into the bold, geometric patterns that Southwestern style often includes, or you can go with more solid, bold colors like teals and mustard yellows. Rounded rugs are also popular since it adds an air of softness and contrasts against the square tiles you see elsewhere in the design.

Every color of the rainbow can be utilized, and when they are, they are often bright and stunning as opposed to muted and calm.
